Obituary

Mary Anne “Mimi” (Cetrone) Coppola, 84, formerly of Newton (“The Lake”), Waltham, where she raised her family and lived for 47 wonderful years. In 2016 they relocated to Marlborough. A beloved Wife, Mother & Grandmother who graced the world with her warmth and kindness, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at UMASS Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 23, 1941, in Newton, Massachusetts, to the late Guido and Victoria (Dalicandro) Cetrone. She was the loving wife of the late Loreto “Larry” Coppola who will always be the “love of her life”.

A proud graduate of Our Lady Help of Christians High School, Newton MA. Following graduation she was a secretary for various companies, but her favorite part of her life was taking care of her loved ones. Devoted to her family, Mary was known for her caring nature, loyalty, and her fantastic sense of humor that brought laughter to countless gatherings.

She is survived by her children, Lawrence "Larry" Coppola and his wife Cheryl of Framingham, Victoria Alves and her husband David of Holden and Robert Coppola and his wife Lisa of Chelmsford. Mary was the proud grandmother of six beautiful grandchildren—Nicholas, Brianna, Julian, Abigail, Marissa & Kayla—each of whom she adored deeply, always eager to brighten their days with her famous smile and the song “You Are My Sunshine.”

Mary shared a special bond with her sisters, Dorothy Cardarelli and Elizabeth Aucoin, both of Waltham, who will carry her memory close to their hearts. She is also the sister of the late Robert Cetrone of Newton, MA. Her legacy extends through her nephews, nieces, and cousins, whose lives she touched with her unwavering love and support.

Mary was a woman of many interests; she found joy in the simple pleasures of reading, ceramics, crocheting, and cooking delicious meals for her family, where the scent of her kitchen was always a reminder of her love. Each moment she spent caring for her family was precious to her, and her spirit of nurturing created lasting moments that will never fade.

Mary will be deeply missed, but her spirit and memories will remain alive in the hearts of all who loved her. As she often said,“keep smiling,” a gentle reminder of the joy she brought to our lives.

Visiting hours and a blessing service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough.

Donations may be made in Mary’s memory to a charity of your choice.
