Marjorie was full of love, laughter and a bright beautiful smile.

Marjorie A. McAuliffe, 91, of Columbia, TN, and formerly a long-time resident of Southborough, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026.She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 53 years, Thomas W. McAuliffe, former Selectman for the Town of Southborough.

Born in Waltham, MA, she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Pond) Lumsden of Marlborough. Marjorie was a 1952 graduate of Marlborough High School.

Marjorie was full of love, laughter and a bright beautiful smile. She cherished her time on Cape Cod in the summertime with our dad during retirement and then basking in the sunshine in Florida in the wintertime. She cherished her time with family and was overjoyed with the addition of each new grandchild (13) and great grandchild (8). In recent years, she lived in Assisted Living and Memory Care in Tennessee close to her son Michael and daughter-in-law Cheryl, granddaughter Kristen and grandson Shawn. Family took every opportunity possible to visit her in Tennessee and share her love of laughter, family memories, and listening to Patsy Cline songs. She and our dad would play those songs while driving to Cape Cod with Kristen and Shawn creating amazing memories for them.

Spending time at the Cape with “Gram and Gramps” was a special treat for all of their 13 grandchildren: Shawn, Kristen, Andy, Josh, Ashley, Patrick, Meghann, Thomas, Sarah, Colby, Hannah, Kendall and Brinley. So many special memories were created especially with trips to Sundae School for the best hot fudge sundaes ever made.

Family was everything and we all have a deep sense of the importance of being there for each other when it is most important. Our mom was loved by everyone she came in contact with. Over and over the first thing people say is “your mom is the sweetest and such a joy to be around”. It’s her legacy, being the best mom and wife ever and always being there for us in good times and bad times. Having six children before the age of 30 (no twins) was an amazing feat for any woman to undertake and she did it with grace. Many times, we wondered, how did our mother survive the six of us?? We are fortunate to have been able to return that love she showered on us to her in her golden years and make sure she was always taken care of in the best way possible.

Our mom has gone home now to be with God in heaven and to once again dance in the arms of our father, something they loved to do.

She is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Cheryl McAuliffe of TN; her daughter Colleen McAuliffe of SC; her son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Regina McAuliffe of MA; her son and daughter-in-law James and Victoria McAuliffe of GA; her daughter and son-in-law Maryann Dintino Krider and Eddie Krider of NC; her daughter and son-in-law Marjorie and Jeff Burdick of CT; her sisters, Janice Brailey and Janet Caron of MA and Joan Robita of AZ; plus 13 loving grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 9 AM to 10:15 AM at Collins Funeral Home, (www.collinsfuneral.com) 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. The funeral Mass will be held immediately following the viewing hours at 11 AM in St. Anne Catholic Church, 20 Boston Road, Southborough, MA 01772. Burial will follow at the Southborough Rural Cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road, Southborough, MA 01772.
