WORCESTER- Maria Lucia Silva, 59, of Worcester and formerly of Marlborough, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, after a long illness. She was the wife of Jose Carlos Da Silva for the past 38 years. She was born, raised and educated in Goias, Brazil, the daughter of the late Calimerio Ribeiro Da Silva and Maria Isabel Da Silva. Lucia was a member of Igreja Batista Vida Nova in Worcester. She enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, but mostly was devoted to the word of God. She leaves two daughters, Cintia Silva and Rubia Beyers, and her husband, Gary, of Worcester; a brother, Manoel Ribeiro Da Silva, and two sisters, Maria Aparecida Dos Santos and Maria Divina Emos, all of Goias; and three grandchildren, Amanda Amaral, Luke and Isabella Beyers, all of Worcester. She was predeceased by two sisters, Maria Isabel and Rosa Maria Silva, both of Goias.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 16, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Fitzgerald and Collins Funeral Home, with a funeral service being held during calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be private. Instead of flowers, donations may be made directly to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
