IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mari
Wendland
September 24, 1973 – June 15, 2016
Marlborough- Mari Wendland, 42, of Marlborough died Wednesday June 15, 2016 at Brigham & Women's Hospital after a courageous 15 month battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Peter D. Rice for the past 15 years. Mari was born, raised and educated in Guam, the daughter of Eiko (Okada) Wendland of Marlborough and the late Warren Wendland. She was a 1991 graduate of Harvest Christian Academy in Guam and later received her B.A. in Religion and English Literature from Baylor University. She was the Planning Administrator for Bose Corporation for the last 13 years and previously was a stock broker for Merrill Lynch. Prior to moving to Massachusetts Mari was the Advisor to the Governor of Nagano Prefecture in Japan. She was an ardent reader who loved walking, travelling the world, living on four continents during her lifetime. She was a spiritual religious woman who was very concerned about poverty in the world. Mari was fluent in several languages, enjoyed a devilish sense of humor and was a fantastic storyteller. She adored her two sons and her husband and will be missed by so many of the lives she touched through her volunteerism. Besides her mother and husband she leaves her two sons, six year old Sen and three year old Brendan Rice both of Marlborough; a brother John Wendland and his wife Gladys of Las Vegas, NV; her father and mother-in-law Peter P. and Eileen (Gorman) Rice of Dublin, Ireland; two sisters-in-law, Edel Mulligan of Ireland and Jessica Rice of England; two uncles and a aunt; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
