Obituary

Marlborough- Laura Alma (Foster) Irving, 93 died Thursday, December 14th at Bolton Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of John "Jack" F. Irving who died in 1987. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Linnel and Annie (Preble) Foster. A resident of Marlborough for the past fifteen years she had previously made her home in Natick from 1950 to 1991. After graduating from Belmont High School, she was employed at the Baker Memorial Library at the Harvard School of Business until starting her family in 1946. She was employed at Jordan Marsh of Framingham for 15 years. She retired from her position as secretary to the Asst. Treasurer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980 after 5 years there. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Natick for close to fifty years serving the church in many capacities. She was most recently a member of the First Church of Marlborough Congregational Church. She was an active member of the Girl Scouts of America for many years. She was a breast cancer survivor and was afflicted with Alzheimer's disease. She leaves her life long friend Agnes N. Morrice currently of Marlborough, previously of Natick. She leaves five children; Ronald Curtis and his wife Caroline of Standish ME, Philip Irving and his wife Marian of Marlboro, MA; James Irving and his wife Evelyn of Divide, CO; Judi Morris and her husband Raymond of Princeton, FL; and Nancy Irving of Conway, NH. Seven grandchildren: Steven Curtis, Laura McLaughlin, Ronda Kenney, Tammi Gartenmayer, Kristi Maksymiak, R.J. Irving and Molly Irving and eleven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday December 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, Main & East Central Streets, Natick. Calling hours are Monday, December 18th from 5-8 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln St Marlborough. Private burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne where she will be interred with her husband.
