Hudson- Dr. Julian Demeo, Jr., 88, of Hudson and formerly of Waltham died Friday November 27, 2015 at Marlborough Hospital. He was the husband of Ann T. (McGrath) Demeo for the last 62 years. He was born in Newton, raised in Waltham, the son of the late Julian and Julia (DeMarco) Demeo, Sr. and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Waltham. Following graduation Julian entered the US Navy and proudly served his country for 30 years retiring with the rank of Captain. He was a naval aviator and flew airships during World War II and the Korean War. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Boston College, Master's and PhD in Education from Boston University. Julian was an educator throughout his life and retired as Superintendent of Braintree Public Schools in 1977. Following his retirement he co-founded Westbridge Independent Preparatory School in in Concord. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Marlborough. Julian will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his wife Ann he leaves three sons, Thomas J. Demeo of North Adams, Stephen Demeo and his wife Melinda of Corona, CA and David Demeo of Boca Raton, FL; two daughters, Kathleen A. Sharp and her husband Dan of Novato, CA and Mary Donovan and her husband Edward of Marlborough; a sister Joanna Schnopp of Dalton; 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was the father of the late Paul, John and Michael Demeo and the brother of the late Francis and Joseph Demeo.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday , December 1 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow in Holyhood Cemetery, 584 Heath Street, Brookline. Calling hours will be held Monday , November 30 from 4-7 p.m. at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
