IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Stephen
Howard
May 11, 1950 – August 3, 2012
HUDSON - John Stephen Howard, 62, of Hudson and formerly of Marlborough, died suddenly Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at Marlborough Hospital. He was born in Malden, the son of the late Edward H. and Louise (Bishop) Howard. Raised and educated in Acton, he was a 1968 graduate of Acton-Boxborough High School. At the time of his death John had been employed as a music teacher at Valente Music in Marlborough for several years, and previously had worked at several area retail stores including Monnick Supply in Marlborough . He was a member of Faith Community Church in Hopkinton and was its group music leader. Music was his life--he formed three bands, Shagbark Hickory, Pendulum & Company and most recently, the Accidentals. His bands played dozens of venues, including the Acton Jazz Café, Marlborough Summer Series, the Harvest Café in Hudson and the former Sit'n Bull Pub in Maynard where his band, the Accidentals, held its CD-release party. He was a "glass half full" kind of man, generous to strangers and always willing to lend an ear. He was known for finding his musical inspiration from anywhere. He was a father figure, a great friend, and blessing to have known.
He leaves two sons, Ryan S. Howard and Corey D. Howard, both of Hudson, and two stepsons, John T. Vives and Tai M. Vives, both of Marlborough; and his brother, Edward H. Howard of Acton.
