MARLBOROUGH - James E. Carleton, 65, of Marlborough died Sunday June 10, 2012 his home. He was the husband of Patricia R. (Stott) Carleton for the past 41 years. He was born, raised and educated in Marlborough, the son of the late Wesley E. and Ethel M. (Jusseaume) Carleton, and was a 1964 graduate of Marlborough Vocational High School. He worked for Rockport Shoe Company for 25 years in corporate security, and previously had worked for Frye Boot, staying with the company throughout all ownership changes until Rockport acquired them. He owned Borough News Dealers in Marlborough and worked 14 years for Carleton & Sons News Dealer in Sudbury. Jim was a former member of the Marlborough Auxiliary Fire and Police Departments, loved restoring antique cars and took great pride in his own 1922 Ford Model T. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, James E. Carleton, Jr. and his wife Trisha, of Oakham, and Chris A. Carleton and his wife, Kolette, of Havre, MT; a brother, Wesley R. Carleton of Marlborough; five grandchildren, Nathan, Nolan, Tiana, Makenna and Brendan Carleton; his in-laws, Charles and Cynthia Baker of Orange, Janice Baker of Templeton, Ronald and Sharon Morse of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Thomas and Suellen Stott of New Braintree; many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Ian Christopher Carleton and brothers-in-law Donald and Paul Baker.
A Celebration of his Life will be held Friday June 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street. Burial will follow in (Brookside Cemetery, Stow. Calling hours will be held Thursday June 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Instead of flowers donations may be made to the Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Foundation, New England Chapter, PO Box 2902, Woburn, MA 01888, In memory of Ian Christopher Carleton.
