Marlborough- Iris "Vina" "Nana" Hernandez, 72, of Marlborough passed away peacefully Monday March 16, 2015 at Marlborough Hospital. She was born in Puerto Rico on May 12, 1942 and was the oldest of 9 children. As the daughter of the late Jose Angel Santiago and Pilar Mercado Orta, she worked from a very young age to help take care of her family. She leaves her first husband Dennis Lauber of Arizona, father of her four children, and her former husband Angelo Hernandez of New York, the love of her life. She loved to cook and was very good at it! She touched our lives and those of so many others and will be dearly missed. She also loved her church, Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal, M.I. in Marlborough. She is survived by four children Dennis Lauber, Jr., Michael Lauber, Nancy Lauber and Cheryl Lauber whom she would, and did do anything for! She also leaves her grandchildren, Alisha, Victor, Victoria, Dennis III, Stefanie, Daniel, Vanessa, Michael, Jr., Rosangela, Derek, Teresa, Oscarlito and Stephen. Affectionately called "Nana Nana" by her great grandchildren: Destiny, Sydney, Victor, Jr., Nathan, Devon, Alyvia, Christian, Hailey, Jeramiah, Dennis IV, Arianna, Gavani, Tatiyanna, Korey, Luis Andre and Vincent; brothers, Miguel, Santos, Angel, Roberto and Jose and sisters Lucy and Maria. She was predeceased by her sister Leyada Magaly, by her great granddaughter Lillyanne Rose and by a son Dwight Edwin Lauber.
Calling hours will be held Thursday March 19 at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough from 5-7 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 7 pm. Following cremation burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to her church, Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal, M.I., 181 Boston Post Road, Marlborough, MA 01752.
