MARLBOROUGH - Harry A. Chase, Jr., 70, of Marlborough died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Marlborough Hospital after being stricken ill earlier in the day. He was the husband of Gayle M. (Gelina) Chase for the last 47 years. He was born, raised and educated in Marlborough, the son of the late Harry A. and Doris (Smith) Chase. A graduate of Marlborough High School, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Cold War aboard the USS Forrestall. Harry worked at Raytheon in Wayland for over 20 years before retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Marlborough Fish and Game, and enjoyed listening to the Oldies songs, golfing, and more than anything, fishing...especially with his grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor, loved people and was always there for anyone who needed help. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Richard A. Chase of Sanbornton, N.H., and a daughter, Kelly D. Canavan of Shrewsbury; three brothers, Robin Chase of Daytona Beach, Fla., Donald Chase of Hudson, Alvah Chase of Marlborough, and three sisters, Judy Demers and Nancy Libby, both of Marlborough, and Cindy Crandal of Worcester; four grandchildren, Corrie, Kayla, Lindsey and Amy; and many nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late Marilee D. Bratkon, Robert Chase and Marjorie Mitchell.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 11 a.m., at the Lincoln Chapel of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday, Jan. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
