MARLBOROUGH - Gertrude V. (Murphy) Lombardi, 97, of Marlborough died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at Bolton Manor. She was the wife of Peter P. Lombardi, who died in 2000. Born in Boston and raised in Brighton, the daughter of the late Peter L. and Mary (Cottingham) Murphy, she was a graduate of Brighton High School, Class of 1930. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and oil painting. She was a positive person who was devoted to her family. She leaves two daughters, Judith A. Jewett and her husband, Charles, of Marlborough and Janice D. McNally and her husband, Francis, of Hudson; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was the mother of the late Peter L. Lombardi of Marlborough and Carol Clinton of California and the sister of the late Charles and Mary.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m., at the Lincoln Chapel of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will take place Monday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Marlborough Senior Center Building Fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
