Marlborough- Gary W. Chapin, 67, of Marlborough died Sunday March 26, 2023 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

He was born, raised and educated in Framingham, the son of the late Richard and Dorothy (Corliss) Chapin and was a 1974 graduate of South High School in Framingham.  He worked for Bryer's Ice Cream in Natick for many years. Gary also was a baseball umpire and coach throughout the State of Massachusetts, a true passion for him. He enjoyed playing cards,watching horse races, playing softball and absolutely loved hosting Easter Egg hunts. He dedicated many years of his life to the children of the community, not only through youth sports, but through his time spent at the Boys and Girls club of Metrowest. Gary was not a man of great financial means, or of a large physical stature, but he truly had the biggest heart, and that made him a rich and powerful man. A man overflowing with a giving spirit, and a child-like innocence. He had a quick wit and everyone could always count on his sense of humor to leave them with a smile.

He leaves three daughters, Jamyra Wildes of Dracut, Bianca Chapin of Haverhill and Alyssa Chapin of McKinney, Texas; two brothers, Barry Chapin of Gloversville, NY and  David Chapin of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Olivia, Lillian, Cali, Charlotte and Rosemary.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Lenny and Brenda Chapin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Greater Grace Christian Fellowship Friday March 31, 2023 at 4:00pm. All are welcome, and it will be followed by a mercy meal at the same location.
