HUDSON - Frederick J. "Freddy" Collins, 56, of Hudson died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at home after a brief illness, while surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Lynne M. (Rudolph) Collins for the last 35 years. Born, raised and educated in Wellesley, the son of the late James and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Collins, he was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School where he majored in automotive technology. Freddy was a driver for American Way Livery for nine years and previously worked as a handyman for several area businesses, including Royal Crest Estates in Marlborough, and also was a truck driver for Ideal Roller. He was an avid outdoorsman and Boston sports teams fan. Freddy loved flea markets, casinos,playing the lottery, and fixing things around the house, but most of all, fishing with his son, Corey. He was an outgoing guy with a "heart of gold," who people just loved being around.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Corey J. Collins and two daughters, Ashley J. Collins and Emily L. Collins, and his stepdaughter, Tammy M. Pooler, all of Hudson; five brothers, James Collins of Saxonville, Richard Collins of South Carolina, John Collins of Whitinsville, Kevin Collins and Joseph Collins of Newton, and three sisters, Martha Collins of Newton, Joan O'Neil of Portland, Maine and Dottie Anastasia of Woburn; three granddaughters and a grandson; and many nephews and nieces.
His funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m., at the Lincoln Chapel of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
