Marlborough- Frances (Cordima) Fitzgerald, 96, of Marlborough died Tuesday March 13, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
She was the wife of William B. Fitzgerald who died in 1993.
Her first husband Robert E. Sofrin died in 1943.
She was born, raised and educated in Boston the daughter of the late Candeloro and Maria (Nunnari) Cordima. She was a member of St. Matthias Church and was an avid reader who enjoyed embroidery, sewing and cooking.
She leaves three daughters Linda L. McCabe of Bridgton, Maine, Theresa Carroll of Braintree and Faith Spinney of Lowell; a sister Dominica Sofrin of Webster; twelve grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
She was the sister of the late Peter, Anthony, Frank and Joseph A. Cordima and Lea Grosse and Carmela Bonanno. She was the mother of the late Kevin W. Fitzgerald who died in 1993.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday March 16 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Matthias Church, Hemenway Street.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (
