Marlborough- Florence A. (Monnette) Russell, 87, of Marlborough died Monday February 24, 2014 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. She was the wife of the late former Marlborough Police Chief Floyd P. Russell who died in 1989. She was born, raised and educated in Marlborough the daughter of the late Moses and Esther (O'Connor) Monnette and was a 1943 graduate of Marlborough High School. Florence was the secretary to the principal at Kane School for several years before retiring. During World War II she worked at the Ammunition Depot in Framingham. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, and enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod with her family and friends. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her loving and generous personality. She leaves three daughters, Paula M. Benoit and her husband Alan of Grafton, Marsha J. Erlandson and her husband Rodney of Northborough and Constance A. Tomaszewski of Miami Springs, Florida; four granddaughters Lori Benoit, Stacey Paradise, Jessica Young and Nicole Tomaszewski; a great grandson and three great granddaughters, many nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by her sister Alice Murphy of Marlborough and two granddaughters, Christine Paolini and Cindy Benoit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday March 1 at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Pleasant Street. Calling hours will be held Friday February 28 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
