IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florence L.
Krupka
February 4, 1927 – October 27, 2014
Florence Lorraine Krupka, nee Ossman, of Wayland, MA, age 87, beloved wife of Richard William Krupka for 59 years, passed away in peace Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In addition to her husband, Florence leaves behind her three daughters: Phyllis Krupka and her husband Paul Sadowski of Overland Park, KS; Jacqueline Krupka of Chicago, IL; and Barbara Coco and her husband Michael of Natick, MA; and her three cherished grandsons: Craig Coco, Brian Coco, and Isaiah Sadowski. Florence also leaves behind her brother, Thomas Ossman, of Providence, RI.
Born in New York, NY to Frederick Ossman and Mae (Weggler) Ossman, Florence graduated from South Side High School in Rockville Centre, NY. Upon graduation, she went to work first for Western Union Telegrams, then the Guided Missiles Division of Fairchild Engine & Aeroplane Corp. in Wyandanch, NY. Soon after she met Richard at a party in Amityville; they married May 29, 1955 and settled in Chestnut Hill and later Framingham, MA. The family moved to Racine, WI in 1972.
In addition to being a devoted mother and housewife, Florence continued to work as an executive secretary, first for EMBA/GLMA (Eastern Mink Breeder's Association/Great Lakes Mink Association), then for the Vice President of Human Resources at Surgitek, Inc., a division of Bristol Myers/Squibb. She retired from Surgitek in 1992.
It was no secret that Florence loved to sing, lending her clear alto voice to the choirs at Rockville Centre Congregational Church and the Episcopal parishes of St. Andrews, Framingham, and St. Michael's, Racine. When Florence and Richard relocated in 1992 to Hendersonville, NC, they worshipped each Sunday at St. James Episcopal Church. Always willing to lend a hand, Florence could be found each week volunteering at the parish thrift shop. They returned to New England in 2006.
During her lifetime, Florence shared a love of theatre with her parents and brother, performing vibrant comic songs and sketches for their community booster club revues. Everyone looked forward to the impromptu neighborhood parties she would host with Richard. And she was the best friend a cat ever had, taking great pleasure in caring for Tuffy, Mittens and Kimba over the years. Those lucky to have known Florence will greatly miss her generous nature, unfailing friendship and, most of all, her sweet smile.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, One Morse Road, Sudbury. There are no visitation hours. Funeral arrangements are provided by Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Flowers should be delivered directly to the church.
