MARLBOROUGH - Eva M. "Cookie" (Garceau) Poland, 72, of Marlborough died Friday morning, July 12, 2013, at her sister Dolly's home, after a long illness. She was born, raised and educated in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Eva L. (Garceau) Garceau. She worked as a coating technician at Evergreen Solar in Marlborough for five years before retiring in 2005.  She previously worked at Corning Net Optics as a test technician in Marlborough, ThermoVision in Franklin as a Senior Coding Support Technician, Corning OCA in Marlborough and Balzer's Optical in Marlborough all for several years, she worked at Frye Boot as a fancy stitcher after 22 years. Cookie loved caring for her grandchildren, travelling to Salisbury Beach, the White Mountains and North Conway. She loved baking, cooking, caring for her home and gardening. Cookie was independent, opinionated,  headstrong , outgoing, and was a truly wonderful woman who adored her grandchildren. She leaves a son, Michael J. Poland of California and four daughters, Debra A. Rosenlund of Worcester, Susan L. Zayac of South Carolina, Lori J. Pachico of Milford and Kristy A. Dos Santos of Marlborough; three brothers, Roland Garceau of Billerica, Ernest Garceau of Venice, Fla., and Donald R. Garceau of Lady Lake, Fla., and two sisters, Stella E. Rydant of Marlborough and Lorraine E. "Dolly" Duca and her husband, Joseph, of Marlborough; 11 grandchildren, Stephen, Shaunna, Stacie, Jeffrey, Brittany, Slade, Kiera, Danielle, David, Jennifer and Scotty; two great-grandchildren, Shyann and Krystal; and nephews, nieces and cousins.  She was predeceased by four brothers, Albert, Arthur, Henry and Norman Garceau.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, July 15 at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street.
