MARLBOROUGH - Emma (Sabo) Smith, 92, of Marlborough died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Marlborough Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Clifton D. Smith who died in 1997. She was born, raised and educated in West Wyoming, Pa., the daughter of the late Paul and Julia (Popp) Sabo and moved to Marlborough in 1955. Emma was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, playing cards, reading, watching game shows and in younger years, ran the farm stand, Smith Farm, for her family's business on Bigelow Street in Marlborough. She was outgoing, generous, mischievous with a hardy laugh, self-assured, loving and adored children. She leaves a stepdaughter, Marion E. Bartlett of Marlborough; a sister, Elizabeth Correia of Marlborough; two grandchildren, Joy Bartlett Bridges of Marlborough and Carol Bartlett of Southington, Conn.; a great-grandson, Andrew Bartlett of Southington; and many nephews and nieces. She was the sister of Michael Sabo, who died last year, and the grandmother to the late Richard and Clifton Bartlett.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 11, at 10:00 a.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 10 from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ). Flowers are welcome.
