Marlborough- Edward A. Bushey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that touched all who knew him. Born on January 14, 1955, in Framingham, Massachusetts, A graduate of Framingham High School, where he enjoyed playing football and keeping the bullies in line.
Ed dedicated many years to his career as a paver with Bishop Trucking. His work ethic was marked by commitment and pride, but it was outside of his career where Ed's true vibrant nature came to life. A man with a great sense of humor, he was known to bring joy and laughter right up to his last days, lighting up every room with his warmth and wit.
He was a true family man, devoted deeply to his beloved wife, Brenda H. (Emberley) Bushey of Marlborough, and their children—Nathaniel Gerald of Marlborough, Edward C. Bushey of Worcester, and Samantha A. Bushey also of Worcester. Edward reveled in the joys of being a grandfather to Makayla and Jaylin, who brought him immeasurable happiness. He leaves a brother Bruce Johnson of Brockton, two sisters Sheila Pirrotta of Uxbridge and Sharon Combs of New York.
Ed was known for his generosity, often giving almost to a fault, ever placing the needs of his family and friends before his own. His infectious enthusiasm for life manifested in his many hobbies and interests. He loved to take family trips to Florida, Niagara Falls and Cape Cod, which his wife Brenda meticulously planned, creating treasured memories along the way. An avid fisherman, Ed spent endless hours in quiet reflection and joy fishing in Buzzards Bay, Plymouth, and Duxbury. Landing some killer stripers, bluefish, flounder, mackerel, scup, black sea bass, dogfish and more. What a blast! Also, countless moments trolling freshwater in the Sea Nymph at Hopkinton State Park, Whitehall, Waushakum and Chauncy. Catching monster bass, pickerel, perch, bluegills, sunfish and having a good old time; the whole time. One of his greatest pleasures was taking his family and friends out on his boat, affectionately named "God's Blessing," a beacon of family unity and enjoyment.
An enthusiastic golfer, he often enjoyed rounds on the links alongside his wife Brenda, sharing not only the sport but the profound companionship that underscored their marriage. He was a big fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics and enjoyed placing wagers always for the home team. Loving the thrill of watching the game and the chance of winning big. He always won big in our eyes!
Ed's personality shone through in every aspect of his life — a man who could always be counted on to “remember to put the plug in the boat!,” a phrase that became a humorous hallmark among his loved ones, reminding them to cherish the small yet meaningful moments on the water.
Though Ed is now reunited with his parents, Arnold F. Bushey and Lorraine M. (Santospago) Bushey, his memory endures profoundly in the hearts of those who continue to walk alongside him in life. His life was a testament to love, humor, and steadfast devotion—a true family man whose generous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Metro Church 401 Elm Street in Marlborough at a date and time to be announced. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. All are invited to sign Ed’s online guestbook at collinsfuneral.com
