MARLBOROUGH - Dorothy L. (Foster) Welton, 73, of Marlborough died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Bolton Manor after a battle with cancer. She was the wife of Harry E. Welton for the past 42 years. Born in Salem, the daughter of the late Ira C. and Elizabeth (Clancy) Foster, she was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and later attended business school. As a young woman, she worked as a court stenographer and later, as a sales rep for Avon for over 20 years, where she received numerous awards including several "Mrs. Albee" awards. Dorothy loved to spoil her son, to shop, and was an outgoing woman who could make friends with anyone. Besides her husband, she leaves her son, Corey J. Thompson, and his partner, Andre Da Silva of Roxbury; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Trimble of Northborough; and her beloved dog, Neeko. She was the sister of Joan E. Foster of Framingham, who died in 1984.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m., at the Lincoln Chapel of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. Following cremation, burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Buddy Dog Humane Society, Inc., 151 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776.
