Hudson- David F. Collins, Jr. 77, of Hudson died January 18, 2016 at the Reservoir Center in Marlborough. He was born in Somerville, the son of the late David F. and Eleanor (Quirk) Collins and was a graduate of Hudson High School Class of 1956. David received a Bachelor's Degree in English from UMASS Amherst and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Utah State University. He was a proud US Marine Corps veteran from 1956-1959 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal. David worked for the Hudson Public School Department as a special education teacher for over 20 years retiring in 1998. He coached girls track at Hudson High School and Bromfield High School in Harvard for several years. David's life was of reading, learning, teaching whether formally in a classroom or just in conversation with friends and  relatives who benefited from his encyclopedic base of knowledge. He was a member of TIARA, The Irish Ancestral Research Association where he helped catalog data gathered from many sources. He had a love of varied music styles from The Doors to old world music. He was an avid fan of British Soccer. He leaves two brothers, John N. Collins and Alan J. Collins and his wife Ann of Hudson; four sisters, Elizabeth C. Lugin of Waltham, Irene R. Drew of Pasadena, CA, Annette F. Collins of Hudson and Katherine M. Collins of Framingham; a niece Eleni Roriz of Martha's Vineyard; and five nephews, Michael Lugin of New Hampshire, David Lugin of California, Declan Lugin of Michigan, John and Trevor Collins of Hudson; many cousins, the Clifford brothers, the Quirks, the Collinses.

Calling hours will be held Friday January 22 from 4:30-6:30 pm in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Following cremation future burial with Military Honors will be held on a date to be determined in Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Special Olympics or Catholic Charities.
