Marlborough- Christe G. Leoleis passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the age of 73, with his beloved wife, Vera, by his side. A native of Marlborough, Christe was a graduate of the Marlborough Public Schools in 1971, where his classmates voted him the superlative, "Most Beautiful Eyes". Christe was known for his pure golf swing and was an avid golfer. He co-captained his high school team to their sixth consecutive Midland League championship title. His earlier golf successes included winning the Junior Club championship at Marlborough Country Club and the New England Ponkapoag Tournament for Juniors.
After graduating high school, Christe adopted the trade of his father which developed into a life long passion for building and construction. Christe established Leoleis Builders, LLC. He worked on many jobs locally including the restoration of The Episcopal Church in Wellesley MA in preparation for their 100th year celebration, as well as remodels and builds in Weston, Southborough, and many other neighboring towns.
Christe was renowned for his exceptional finish work, an accomplishment highlighted in 2002 when his work was featured in Architectural Digest. However, Christe considered his greatest achievement to be the restoration of his cherished Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church in Marlborough, MA, which had been extensively damaged by a fire in 2002. A man of deep faith, Christe exemplified true stewardship by dedicating his time, resources, and skills to the church's revival. He took a year away from his own business to act as project manager, overseeing the restoration from start to finish. His goal was not only to restore the Church’s original beauty but also to enhance it. This dedication and leadership in restoring the church—which his own grandparents had helped build from the stone foundation up in 1925—represented a profound full-circle moment in both his career and his life.
Christe was blessed to have many passions. A highlight for him was how much he enjoyed restoring vintage cars with his son. He also pursued drag racing with his 1969 Barracuda, traveling to compete in Canada, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. And for all who knew him, you know how much he enjoyed lively political and global discussions with his close friends during regular meetings at the neighborhood coffee shop. He was a proud member of the Order of AHEPA Nicholas Granitas Chapter #105.
Born prematurely on December 24th with a severe heart condition, Christe was a fighter from the start. A priest even administered his last rites. In a plea for God's grace to grant his son life and health, Christe's father vowed to honor the gift by naming him after Christ. Christe was a man of unwavering character—forthright, direct, and earnest. You always knew where you stood with him because he never concealed his thoughts. Nobody could wear out a name like Christe, just as nobody could ever doubt his fierce loyalty to his family and friends. He was a courageous individual who stood up for his beliefs, never backing down from a difficult situation. His will to live and the brave fight he waged until the very end were a true testament to his indomitable spirit.
Christe is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Vera Leoleis, his cherished son, Christe M. Leoleis, and his wife Rebecca. He was the proud grandfather of two beautiful grandchildren, Kaylee A. and Christe J Leoleis. He is also survived by his siblings: Dennis G. Leoleis and his wife Joyce, Nicholas G. Leoleis, George Leoleis Jr., and Anastasia I. Dilling and her husband, Raymond. Christe was a loving uncle to his niece, Kimberly Fischer, and his nephews, Daniel Dilling and George Dilling. He was also godfather to his nephews, Nicholas J. Leoleis and Henry L. Dilling. Christe was predeceased by his parents, Diana and George Leoleis, and his nephew, Mark D. Leoleis.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 21 at 9 a.m., from the Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough, with a Mass at 10 a.m., at Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, corner Central and Cashman Streets. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 20, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. All are invited to sign Christe’s online guestbook at collinsfuneral.com.
