Obituary

Celina Gonzalez, a beloved matriarch, departed this world on January 26, 2026, at Oak Knoll Healthcare Center. Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, on February 28, 1951, she was the cherished daughter of the late Adolfino and Herminia (Lugo) Quinones. Celina's life was a tapestry woven with love, care, and an unwavering dedication to her family.

Throughout her 74 years, she exemplified the essence of familial bonds, finding joy in hosting gatherings that brought her loved ones together. Her kitchen was a sanctuary, where the aromas of delicious meals enveloped family and friends alike. Cooking was more than a passion for Celina; it was her way of expressing love, bringing warmth to everyone who crossed her threshold. She delighted in the laughter and shared memories that her home nurtured.

Celina's nurturing spirit extended beyond just her culinary talents. As a devoted wife to her husband of 50 years, Hector Gonzalez, she created a loving environment filled with compassion and understanding. Her heart was infinitely large, capable of embracing her children, Hector L. Torres and his wife Juana, Nilsa A. Roman and her husband Jose Martinez, Lydia E. Albino and her husband Efrain, as well as her brother, Moises Quinones. Celina was not only a mother but also a grandmother to 12 grandchildren, a great grandmother to 16 great grandchildren, and a great great grandmother to one precious little girl. Her family was her pride and joy, and she reveled in every moment spent with them.

A member of the Iglesias Pentecostal Cristo Vida Para El Caido of Marlborough, Celina’s faith guided her life, reflecting her caring and loving personality. She adored her grandchildren, always eager to be involved in their lives and witness their achievements. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, reading, and engaging in crossword and wordsearch puzzles, all pursuits that added richness to her days. Her fondness for flowers mirrored her vibrant spirit, both full of life and color.

Celina is remembered with great affection, especially as her family reflects on the beautiful memories they shared. They will forever hold in their hearts the laughter, love, and warmth that characterized their time with her. She now joins her daughter, Judith Roman Quinones, who predeceased her in 2017, in eternal peace.

Visitation for Celina will take place on February 3, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Collins Funeral Home, located at 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough, MA. A graveside service will follow on February 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery on Wilson Street.

Celina Gonzalez leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to thrive through her family’s cherished memories. Her light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew and adored her.
