Carmen Vega, 73, of Marlborough, MA died Sunday September 1, 2024 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of the late Jose Rodriguez who died in 1984.
She was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of Santa Colon and the late Eduardo Vega. She was raised in Hatillo, Puerto Rico and was a graduate of the Wilfred Academy in Brooklyn, New York where she received her cosmetology license. She enjoyed reading, collecting ceramic angels and adored her two cats, Sebastian and Pedro. She was proudest when talking about her grandchildren and doted on their every need.
She leaves two sons, Jose Ariel Rodriguez and his wife Lindsey of Ashburnham and Jose Arnaldo Rodriguez of Marlborough; two daughters, Sandra Mayoros and her husband Anthony of Trenton, NJ and Denise Betancourt and her husband Joaquin of Hatillo, Puerto Rico; three brothers, Francisco, Emilio and Hector; six sisters, Awilda, Iris, Teresa, Sandra, Julissa and Gisela. She was predeceased by sister, Mercedes. Carmen also leaves 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; as well as many nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be held Saturday September 7 from 12-2 PM in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. All are invited to sign Carmen's online guestbook at collinsfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cat Rescue of Marlborough and Hudson.
