Obituary

Betty L. Sage, of Spring Hill, Florida, and formerly of North Walpole, NH, and Berlin, MA, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2024, with her husband Randy by her side. Born on November 9, 1950, Betty Lou Wheeler, daughter of the late Roger M. and Lulu T. (Parmenter) Wheeler, was raised in Berlin Massachusetts, and attended Berlin Elementary School and Tahanto Regional High School, graduating with the Class of 1968.  Betty worked in various capacities with several industries throughout her career including Marlborough Hospital, Ratheon Technologies (Walpole), and Imperial Distributors (Worcester).  One of her proudest achievements was earning certification as a Massachusetts Emergency Medical Technician in 1993 and giving back to her community as a volunteer Firefighter-EMT for the Berlin Fire Department and the Berlin Rescue Squad. In fact, Betty was awarded a commendation for single-handedly, and successfully performing life-saving actions to a victim in respiratory arrest on New Years' Eve in 1994.

Betty was an adventurous person and always looked forward to the next chapter in her journey. Whether it was learning to ride a motorcycle in the country, practicing marksmanship skills with a rifle at the cabin, body-surfing waves in the warm southern waters, kayaking the rivers, or flying through zip-lines high in the mountains, you could "bet your sweet bippie" she was always up for a new thrill. She enjoyed traveling across the United States and seeing all the wonders life has to offer. An avid sports enthusiast, Betty enjoyed supporting the New England sports teams, especially the New England Patriots. She also loved watching her children and grandchildren perform at their different activities and sporting events, and you could often hear her passionately rooting for them on the sidelines!

Throughout her life, Betty was a proud American, and very passionate supporter of all branches within our United States armed forces. She would often share stories of family members that had previously served, and each day she proudly faced the flagpole in her yard displaying the American and military branch flags, saying "good morning" and "good night" to our family that are currently serving.  Betty will be fondly remembered, and greatly missed by those lives she touched around her.  She was just 73 years old.

Betty is survived by her husband, Randal Sage of Spring Hill, FL; her brother Thomas (Kathy) Wheeler of Brooksville, FL; her children Francis (Deana) Pulsifer of Centerville, MA, Michelle Pulsifer of Townsend, MA, Douglas (Christine) Pulsifer of Northborough, MA; her stepson Randal Sage Jr. of Manchester, NH; her grandchildren Hope, Joseph, Shamus, Owen, Natasha, Nate, and William; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Kathryn (Michelle) Burns-Pulsifer of Townsend, MA. Betty also leaves behind two former marital partners, Stephen Pulsifer of Brookfield, MA, and Frank Saxton-Wyckoff of Portland, OR.

A celebration of life will be held in Betty's honor on October 20, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hudson (MA) Elk's Club, 99 Park Street, Hudson, MA. Burial services will be private.
