Obituary

MARLBOROUGH- Bernardo A. Silva, 84 of Marlborough died Tuesday November 13, 2007 in MetroWest Medical Center, Natick. He was the husband of Gilma C. (Villa) Silva for the past 59 years. Besides his wife he leaves a son Mauricio Silva of Columbia, SC; five daughters, Ruby Guerrero of Bogotá, Colombia, Marlene Munoz of Naples, Florida, Maria E. Torres of Milford, Patricia Carpintero of Bogotá, Colombia and Adriana Silva of Miami, FL; a brother Antonio Silva of Costa Rica and two sisters, Emma Silva and Otilea Valencia both of Florida; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Bernardo A. Silva, Jr. of Bogotá, Colombia. Born in Calarca, Colombia the son of the late Jesus M. and Maria (Gonzales) Silva. He was educated in Colombia and was a self made businessman who sold various retail lines, if you could think of it he sold it. He also owned his own restaurant before moving to the Unites States many decades ago. An extremely hard working man with an incredible love of family, he loved cooking for family gatherings and enjoyed music and dancing. For the last fifteen months of his life he was the most courageous man while struggling with his health. ". In his leisure time he enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and joining his wife Gilma for bingo. He will be remembered by his family and friends as kind, lovable, generous and who truly was a "Gentleman". A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday November 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Friday November 16 from 5-9 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
