Barbara Hennigan, a cherished and spirited woman whose life was marked by loyalty, humor, and a welcoming nature, passed away on May 27, 2026, at the Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham, Massachusetts. Born on February 22, 1941, in Boston, Massachusetts, Barbara was a proud graduate of Maynard High School’s Class of 1959.
Barbara dedicated many years to her professional career, working at Raytheon in Wayland and General Radio in Bolton, where she contributed significantly until her well-earned retirement. Her commitment and work ethic were hallmarks of her character, reflecting the same fierce determination and outspoken personality she displayed in every facet of her life.
Beyond her career, Barbara embraced a rich tapestry of interests and hobbies. She found joy in traveling, often delighting in cruises and trips to Foxwoods. She had a keen eye for treasures at yard sales, enjoyed country music, and was a passionate card player. These pursuits mirrored her vibrant spirit and her zest for life.
Known for her strong opinions and fearless nature, Barbara was also deeply loyal and fiercely protective of those she loved. Her great sense of humor and welcoming demeanor endeared her to all who knew her, creating lasting memories with family and friends alike. Barbara was truly the go to person in the family when someone needed guidance or advice.
Barbara is survived by her longtime companion, Robert P. Beausoleil of Marlborough; her grandsons, Josh E. Martel of West Boylston and Eric T. Martel of Butler, Pennsylvania; as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Morgan Byrne and Elizabeth (Malloy) Byrne; her beloved daughter, Laura Martel, who passed away in 2014; and her eight siblings, Morgan, Tommy, Johnny, Eileen, Sheila, Christine, Mary Ellen, and Deborah.
A visitation will be held in Barbara’s honor on Sunday May 31, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, located at 378 Lincoln Street in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This time will offer family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know Barbara an opportunity to celebrate her life and reflect on the profound impact she made. Barbara Hennigan’s legacy is one of strength, love, and a remarkable spirit that touched many lives. She will be remembered with respect and affection by those who had the privilege to know her. Her memory will endure in the hearts of her family and the countless friends who admired her unique blend of fortitude and warmth.
