Marlborough- Arthur D. Bastien, 89 of Marlborough died Saturday March 22, 2014 while visiting Cape Cod. He was the husband of Marie A. (Perini) Bastien for the past 60 years. He was born in Williamstown, MA the son of the late Arthur D. and Ethel (Cheney) Bastien. He was a graduate of Williamstown High School Class of 1943; following graduation he entered the US Marine Corps serving his country from 1943-1946 and was a World War II veteran. He was recalled during the Korean War and served from 1951-1952 and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. After his discharge he attended Northeastern University and later graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Business Management. He was a graduate of the Waltham Watch Making School and the Gemological Institute of America in New York. He was a contract administrator for Raytheon for over 35 years in the missile systems division retiring in 1990. He owned and operated the family business Bastien Jewelry Store, in Williamstown for several decades. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, an avid golfer and Boston Sports fan. He was a founding member of the Williamstown Theater and was active in the Williamstown Chamber of Commerce. He loved The Cape and had a home in Provincetown for many years. He enjoyed travelling with the love of his life Marie, taking her to Europe twice a year for several decades. He was strong willed, keenly intelligent , pensive and had a heart of gold. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and the ability to spot a great deal. Arthur was truly devoted to his wife, daughters and grandchildren.

Besides his wife he leaves five daughters, Michelle M. Stevens and her husband John of Winston Salem, NC, Adrienne A. MacDonald and her husband Craig of Marlborough, Suzanne E. Valente and her partner Scott Peterson of Northborough, Jeanne M. Dieterly of Shrewsbury and her husband David and Christine M. Bastien of Marlborough; a sister Clare Corbett of Concord; eight grandchildren, Sean, Melissa, Rebecca, Chris, Ryan, Matthew, D.J. and Samantha; three great grandchildren, Elliot, Violet and Oliver. He was pre-deceased by his sister Barbara Rand of California.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday March 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street. Burial with military honors will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street. Calling hours will be held Wednesday March 26 from 5-8 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street.
