Obituary

MARLBOROUGH - Arlene M. Byam, 83, of Marlborough died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 at Marlborough Hospital. She was the wife of Floyd Byam, who died in 1989. Her first husband, Floyd J. Lockwood, died in 1975. She was born, raised and educated in Oneonta, N.Y, the daughter of the late Claude and Agnes (Hulbert) Mott, and was a cook at the Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta for 23 years before retiring in 1978. Arlene enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She leaves two daughters, Marsha A. Zindle of Marlborough and Diane L. Gillott of Iowa; a brother, Lowell Mott of Vera Beach, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Donna Mott of Maryland, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. She was the mother of Larry B. Mott of Maryland, N.Y., who died in 2004.
Her funeral and burial in Oneonta will be private following cremation. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are by the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
