Antonio Campos Souza, 77, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at The Reservoir Center.
He was born, raised, and educated in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and was the son of Luiz Campos De Lacerda and Maria Do Socorro Coelho.
In Brazil, Antonio worked as an electronic technician. After immigrating to Massachusetts, he worked as a baker and cleaner, but his greatest legacy was as a deeply respected religious leader within the Brazilian and American communities. His unwavering faith, humility, and devotion touched countless lives.
Antonio was known for his boundless generosity, kindness, and compassion. He lived a life of service, always putting others before himself. In his spare time, he embraced every opportunity to serve: volunteering in social programs that supported underprivileged children and families, and leading Novenas and Bible study groups for his community. He also delighted in the challenge of biblical crossword puzzles and the thrill of Formula 1 races.
A devoted father and proud grandfather, Antonio's greatest joy came from his family, whom he loved dearly. He will be remembered for his warm heart, steadfast spirit, and the lasting impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves two sons, Luiz Augusto Santana of Marlborough and Alexandre Santana and his wife Luana of Los Angeles, California; a daughter Monica Santana Smith and her husband Todd of Lancaster; siblings, Geralda Campos Calais, José Campos de Souza, Gabriel Campos de Souza, Maria das Graças Souza Santana, Lucas Campos de Souza, Joaquim Campos de Souza, Sérgio Campos de Lacerda, Luiz Gonzaga Campos Coelho, Angelo Campos Coelho, Izabel Campos Coelho, João Batista Campos Coelho, Carlos Lacerda Campos Coelho, Maria Lúcia Campos Coelho, Marcos Campos Coelho and Gracimar Geraldo Campos; two granddaughters, Sofia and Alessandra Smith of Lancaster; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday June 14 at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held Friday from 7-9 PM in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Antonio's name to SICOOB , Agência 3027, Conta 21406-0 Mitra Diocesana de Governador Valadares. .
