Anna J. (Commons) Small, 94, formerly of Weston, Waltham, and Marlborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, in hospice care in Apache Junction, Arizona, after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles R. Small, who died in 2010.
Born and raised in Waltham, Anna was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Mabel (O'Brien) Commons. She dedicated many years of service as an assistant bookkeeper for the Weston School Department, where she worked for 19 years before retiring in 1987.
Anna had a love for crafts and was especially known for her joy in collecting Beanie Babies. Her collection grew to more than 500, and she took great pleasure in sharing them with her grandchildren, to whom she was deeply devoted.
She is survived by her son, Thomas J. Small of Apache Junction, Arizona, and her daughter, Sally A. Sinclair of Mendon; and her cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, and Kaitlynn. She was predeceased by her son, Edward P. Small.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, at 10:00 a.m. in Linwood Cemetery, Route 20, Weston. There will be no calling hours.
