Obituary

Boston- Amy L. Poirier, a dedicated professional, passed away peacefully at her home on April 16, 2026. Born on October 21, 1954, in Marlborough, Massachusetts, Amy lived a life marked by devotion to her family, career, and passions.

Amy attended St. Anne’s Academy in Marlborough and graduated from Hudson Catholic High School, class of 1973, and furthered her education at Framingham State College. Her commitment to excellence carried through into a distinguished 30-year career at State Street Bank and Trust in Boston, where she served as Assistant Vice President until her retirement in 2009.

Beyond her professional achievements, Amy’s vibrant spirit was evident through her lifelong involvement in music and community activities. She was a member of the Dukes of Marlborough Drum & Bugle Corps and the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps. These groups showcased her dedication and love for musical performance. She also enjoyed traveling and was a founding member of the Cinque Amici Travel Club. Amy’s adventurous spirit took her to remarkable destinations including Hawaii, Greece, France, Alaska, the Caribbean Islands, and Italy, fueling a lifelong love of exploration.

Amy’s personal interests reflected her unique character; she was an avid fan of British television shows and movies, as well as popular series such as Big Brother and Survivor. She was a season ticket holder of the Broadway in Boston series. A devoted Red Sox fan and season ticket holder, she took great pride in bringing family and friends to the games throughout the years.

Her family remembers Amy as independent and generous, a woman with a straightforward approach who consistently put others first. She is survived by her brother, John F. Poirier of Atlanta; her sisters, Margaret “Meg” Pelletier  and her husband Marc of Hartsville, South Carolina, and Mary Beth Poirier of Marlborough; her niece Abby Poirier and Abby’s wife Bonnie Watkins of Atlanta; and many cousins who cherished her companionship and warmth. Amy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, F. Thomas Poirier and Theresa M. (Donahue) Poirier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew Parish located at 25 Highland Street in Southborough at 10:00 a.m. on Friday April 24th. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.

Amy L. Poirier leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a passion for life that touched the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
