Marlborough- Albert K. "Al" Pitard, 86. Of Marlborough and Brooksville, Florida died Wednesday April 15, 2015 at Wayland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Laura E. (Baldwin) Pitard for 60 years before her passing in December 2013. He was born, raised and educated in Hudson, the son of the late Henry and Beatrice (Gagne) Pitard and was a graduate of Hudson High School Class of 1948, where he was president of his freshman class and Captain of the football team. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, and played football for the US Army while stationed in Europe. He was a Graduate of the Massachusetts State Police Academy for Law Enforcement and Quinsigimond Community College with a degree in criminal justice. Al was a Police Officer for the City Of Marlborough working as a juvenile officer and later as Detective Sergeant for 31 years retiring in 1987. He also worked at General Motors in Framingham for seven years, Dalzell Volvo Dealership and Hudson Combing for 20 years as a machinist. Al was a former president for the Marlborough Police Association, a member of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local # 527 and the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association and the AARP. Al was a happy, giving man who enjoyed camping with his family and trips to the beach. He leaves two sons, William A. Pitard and his wife Louise of Virginia and Jared B. Pitard and his spouse Steve of San Diego, Calif; three daughters, Lee Ann Devoe and her husband Ronald of Marlborough, Deborah J. Pitard and her significant other Richard Perry of Marlborough and Elaine M. Stangler and her husband Richard of San Diego, Calif; a brother Leonard Pitard and his wife Pamela of Framingham; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, Nicole, Lynn, Staci, Amber, Ashley and Michael; six great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was pre-deceased by two brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 23 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at New Horizons, 400 Hemenway Street, Marlborough. Burial with military honors with follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street. Calling hours will be held Wednesday April 22 from 6-9 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (
