FRAMINGHAM - Abraham Colon Burgos, 62, of Framingham died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Gladys A. (Torres) Colon for the last 33 years. Born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Emilio and Angelita (Burgos) Colon, he moved to Newton in 1977 before moving to Waltham and Framingham several years ago. He graduated from Barranquitas High School and later received his bachelor's degree in business administration from InterAmerican University in Barranquitas. He was a machinist for over 20 years at Barry Controls in Watertown, retiring several years ago due to his health. He enjoyed studying world history, listening to music, nature, playing Dominos and was an honest, responsible hardworking family man. He is survived by his two sons, Emile Colon of Waltham, Kelvin Colon of Framingham, and a daughter, Sharlene Colon of Framingham; four brothers, Emilio Colon of California, Miguel Mercado of Florida, Israel Colon of New York and Enrique Colon of Puerto Rico; a granddaughter, Yaida Fuentes of Framingham; and many nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church, 221 Concord St., Framingham. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 6 to 10 p.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Instead of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Ste 2., Norwood, MA 02062.
