Martha C. Millett

 Martha Chase Millett, 80, died on 12/29/2019 from complications caused by a difficult combination of heart and Alzheimer’s disease.  She is survived by all of her children: oldest daughter Cheryl Clover, her husband John Clover, son Michael Klein, and her youngest daughter Rachel Klein. She is also survived by granddaughters Kimberly Taverna and Kelly Yust. Martha was fortunate to know her 2 great grandchildren; Jonathan Yust and Natalie Taverna. She was preceded in death by her parents Irving and Freida Chase, as well as her sisters Roslyn Fradin and Irene Chayt. Her husband and best friend Joseph Millett, preceded her death in 2014. They were married 38 years. He was her everything. He colored her world with love. Joe’s three children became a part of Martha’s family and life; Joseph Milett III, Christina Knarr, and Jennifer Lasalvatore. 

Martha was many things but will be most remembered as a generous, kind,loving, and caring mother. She was a strong, quiet leader whose actions would always be predicated by the question, “what is best for my family?”. There was nothing more important in her life than the well being of her husband and children.

She loved the creative arts. She was especially crafty with flowers, paper, needlepoint, knitting and other crafts. She had an incredible eye for color and aesthetic appeal which she put to use in her own business Marlee Creations, at the gift store that she and her husband owned on Cape Cod, and for other retailers that had hired her throughout the years. If you ever attended one of the Brookwater Elementary school fall fairs, you probably purchased one of her “Lifesaver Dolls” or saw her covered with cotton candy. Music was also important to her. 

Originally from Rhode Island, she was proud to have seen many of the great acts of her day in the small clubs of Providence, well before they became known on the national scene. While not a performer herself, Martha would keep herself and her family calm and happy with her perpetual humming. At this time, there are no services planned. Those closest to the family will receive a communication should any future plans be made. 

A non-monetary alternative is for you to spend an hour with someone that you love and sit to deeply appreciate that you fully recognize each other, you know how to get home, that you know that you are home, and that you know how to make a cup of coffee or pour a glass of water. They are simple gifts which we all tend to take for granted.
