Maria Alves Pereira

 Maria H. (Alves) Pereira, 96, died Saturday May 12, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.  She was the wife of the late Dimas Jose De Paiva who died in 1998.  She was born, raised and educated in Peçanha, Minas Gerais, Brazil the daughter of Abilio Alves Pereira and Helena Alves de Oliveira. She lived many years in Virgolandia and Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais before moving to Vitoria, Espirito Santo. She enjoyed cooking and used to play the guitar and accordion in the early years of her young life. She was a devoted Christian who was dedicated to her family and loved them unconditionally. She leaves two sons, Edirson De Oliveira Paiva of Somerville and Roberto De Oliveira Paiva of Marlborough; two daughters, Celia Maria De Paiva and Marta Paiva Goulart both of Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil; three sisters, Laura Oliveira and Dalila Vincens both of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil and Penha Vieira Lucca of Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brazil; five grandsons, six granddaughters, fourteen great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.  She was pre-deceased by three sons, Jose “Zezito” De Oliveira Paiva, Carlos Marcos De Paiva and Sergio De Oliveira Paiva, and by four brothers.

Calling hours will be held Sunday May 20 from 4-6 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street.  A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will be held Monday May 21 at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
