Jose A. Ramirez

Shrewsbury- Jose Antonio Ramirez, 86, of Shrewsbury died Saturday May 11, 2019 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center.  His wife Graciela (Guiro) Ramirez died in 2011. He was born, raised and educated in Bogota, Colombia, the son of the late Marco Velazquez and Mercedes Ramirez. Jose was a self-employed commercial contractor for many years and worked at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham for 15 years. He enjoyed dancing the Tango, singing, spending time with his family and he loved soccer, always cheering on his team Independent Santa Fe! He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Ashland. He leaves two sons, Arturo Ramirez and his wife Barbara of Putnam, CT and Marco Ramirez of Shrewsbury; three daughters, Luz Roman and her husband Yeris of Shrewsbury, Gloria Ramirez of Framingham and Patricia Ramirez and her husband Dumar of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Manuela and Clementina both of Bogota, Colombia; twelve grandchildren, Oscar, Cristian, Rocio, Michelle, Jorge, Ricardo, Juan, Joshua, Johan, Hanna and Nicole;  fifteen great- grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins. His grandson William Roman, Jr. died July 4, 2011.

A funeral service will be held Saturday May 18 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.  Calling hours will be held Friday May 17 from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
