Hudson- John J. McGrath, 89, of Hudson and formerly of West Roxbury and Ocean Ridge, Florida died on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. He was born and raised in West Roxbury and was the son of the late John L. and Annie J. (Clark) McGrath. John was a graduate of Roslindale High School and worked at East Pharmacy. He retired from the New England Telephone Company and was a member of the IBEW. John was a talented musician and had the ability of playing his piano by ear without having seen it notated in any form of sheet music. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Marlborough and will be remembered as a loving son, brother and uncle. He leaves his beloved sister Mary E. McGrath of Hudson and sister in law Alice M. (McCarty) McGrath of Wrentham and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leo E. McGrath of Norwood, late Ann T. (McGrath) Demeo and late brother in law Julian Demeo Jr. of Hudson.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 24, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central St, Framingham. Burial will follow in Holyhood Cemetery, 584 Heath Street, Brookline. Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Patrick’s Manor.
