Carlos Alberto De Paiva Reis

Carlos Reis, husband of Mizia Paiva, father of Loizia Paiva and Milos Paiva, father-in-law of Gabriel Tiburcio, grandfather of Alicia Tiburcio, and son of Aparecida Ferreira and Carlos Ferreira, died on February 10th, 2024, at age 62 after battling an aggressive cancer for 7 months and 18 days.  Carlos is survived by his mother, his wife, his children, grandchild, two sisters and one
brother. He is predeceased by his father.

Carlos was born on August 11, 1961, in Anápolis, Brazil. He married in 1990, had his first child in 1992 and emigrated to the United States with his family in 1995. In 1999, his second child was born in Framingham, MA.  Ever since he was a child, he showed everyone his generous heart. At age 10 he decided he would sell ice cream and chose to give his mother all the money he made.  Since then, he never stopped working. He was an exceptional seller and worked long years selling sweets.  He opened his own company of sweets and distributed them to various regions of Brazil.  He and his wife then decided that it would be better for their family to move to the United States.  At age 33, he emigrated and started his life from scratch. He began working with newspaper distribution in the United States and never stopped. In addition to distributing newspapers, he worked at a computer distribution company. He started as a packager and made his way up to manager due to his hard work, kindness and leadership. At this point, he still had limited English as that wasn’t his first language, but that never discouraged him.

Instead, he studied alone, writing words over and over so he would learn the vocabulary.  Conversation came mostly by talking to coworkers. He never shied away from learning.  Regardless of his success in this position, he decided to leave. This full-time job did not allow him to visit his family in Brazil as often as he would like. He decided to exclusively dedicate time to distributing newspapers.  He worked for several different newspaper companies and found himself in this job. He enjoyed working overnight, having flexibility, driving around, discussing the routes, and the
dignity that this job gave him. Other than delivering, he also was a supervisor at times. He made lifelong friends in this career and helped people as much as he could. Moreover, this job gave him the ability to provide for his family, which would give him the most pleasure.  Carlos’ biggest desire was to share the fruits of his labor with the people he loved.

Carlos was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed showing his family new places, gifting his beloved ones, road driving, being with his mother and watching sports. He had a phenomenal memory, would remember addresses by heart and never had to use a GPS.  Carlos was very good with numbers. He made complicated calculations in his head with extreme ease. He was a spiritual man, who regularly attended mass and had a very strong faith in God.  Soccer was his passion. He rooted for Flamengo and always made sure to watch every match he could.  
As many would say to him, Carlos was one of a kind. He was perceived as a true gentleman. Fine, generous, hardworking, polite, loveable, and dependable. He loved people with a giving heart. Never a complainer, always optimistic, even when diagnosed with cancer on June 22nd, 2023. Instead of complaining, he accepted it and fought bravely and faithfully until the very end. He was a real trouper.  

He was an amazing son, husband, father, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He impacted the lives of everyone he interacted with in this world. Carlos will never be forgotten. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, February 15th at 6pm at Collins Funeral, 378 Lincoln St, Marlborough.  Burial will take place at Cemetery Park in Anápolis, Brazil, his hometown.
