ANDRE WAS THE KIND OF PERSON THAT NO ONE COULDN'T HELP BUT LIKE. HE HAD WHAT IT TOOK TO BE A SERGEANT AND AN NCO. THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT ANDRE WAS DOING WHAT NOT MANY SERGEANTS DO, GIVING ONE OF HIS SOLDIERS A RIDE TO WORK. ANDRE WAS LOVE BY SO MANY PEOPLE AND WILL NOT BE EASILY FORGOTTEN. ANDRE WAS SO EXCITED ABOUT HAVING A BABY WITH NOELLE. HE WAS A GREAT AND LOVING HUSBAND TO NOELLE, A DEVOTED FATHER TO HIS STEP-DAUGHTER SHEA, AND JUST SO HAPPY TO BE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE BIRTH OF HIS DAUGHTER. HE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AND LOVE BY US ALL.

Andre, Ever since I met you when you and Jose drove to San Antonio from Alabama after training, I sensed you as person with a big heart. I got to know you through Jose and I was right. You're death is effecting me ways I never thought it would simply because you were a nice person and you had everything going for you with a beautiful wife and a baby on the way. I'll always remember you as a nice guy with a big smile. I don't recall ever seeing you without a smile. I'll miss seeing you in your Mustang waving as you passed me by in housing area. Beijao

Good-byes are not forever and nor is it the end, when angels come to call away a loved one or a friend. The empty place that's left behind within this world we know, reminds us just how brief a stay we have before we go. So When it's time to bid farewell To one we'll dearly miss, Let's just say we'll meet again And promise them with this... The true gift is that love remains although we now must part.. Until forever and beyond I'll keep you in my heart....

During this time there is no words that can give you the family real comfort. But we would like for you to know that it has been a real honor to know Andre (or as more here at Ft. Hood know him as Sgt. Araujo) It is still a real shock that this has even happen. You all are in our prayers during this time.

"Deus tira de nós o que mais amamos. Quando menos esperamos e sem nenhum aviso. E a culpa? A culpa é da vida que tem inicio, meio e fim. A nossa culpa está apenas em amar tanto e sentir tanto perder alguém. Mas o tempo é remédio e nele conquistamos o consolo, com ele pensamos nos bons momentos. E no fim apenas a saudade e uma certeza: não importa onde esteja, estará sempre conosco".

For SGT Andre Araujo and your entire family: I cannot say how sorry I am for the loss of such a great man. What I said at your memorial was truly from the heart and I will always remember you as one of the finest Soldiers the Army ever had in its ranks. Your passing was tragic but God called you as one of his own. Know that I will keep Noelle, Alexa, and Shea, as well as your mother, father, sisters and entire family in my thoughts and prayers. Your Lieutenant.

Andre, I've met many people in my Army career, but only a few I consider my comrade, my friend, and my brother; you were one of them. From the moment I met you, I knew I had a new brother for life. Every time I hear someone say that the world is a lesser place without someone, I never understood the true meaning behind those words until now. Andre, since I met you, you influenced me to become a better Soldier, leader, husband, and especially a better person. You have left us too soon. I truly believe that you were larger than life; and if there are more people like you, this world would be a better place. It is an honor and a privilege to take you home. My friend, my brother I miss you and I'll always remember you. You might be gone but you'll never be forgotten. Jose Camacho

I went to 89B school with Sgt A, that is what the entire class called him. He was a person that was full of fun and full of life. He cared deeply about his classmates and am glad to be a great friend to him. I had just seen him in the Darnell Hospital and talked to him, I was glad he was back and was telling him that I was going over as well. We came to Ft. Hood together. I gave him a hug and very happy to see him and told him that we have to get together and hang out. Me him, and Camacho. He will be a friend I will never forget. The time we talked in class, laughed and just had fun. My prayers goes out to him and his loved ones, he will be greatly missed. I love you SGT A, watch over us. RIP

I could tell whenever talking to her that she loved him with all her heart, and was willing to sacrifice everything to be with him. Andre...Wherever you are, may God be with you. ... and Noelle... In these trying times, remember that Jesus isn't walking beside you... hes carrying you. I love you with everything I've got, and my heart goes out to you. But I know with how much she loved you, and you must have loved her, I know you must be with her and the baby. From what I have come to understand about you from Noelle is that is something you would do. Noelle, my heart truelly goes out to you. You are such a strong person. And I know you will be with him one day, but remember just because you can't see and touch him now, doesn't mean you can't feel him around you. Because I know he is there. He was my next door neighbor in iraq for 8 months and he was always there to lend me an ear and i was there to always lend him a cigerret. As we walk our path of life, We meet people everyday. Most are simply met by chance. But, some are sent our way. These become special friends Whose bond we can't explain; The ones who understand us And share our joy and pain. Their love contains no boundaries. So, even we are apart. Their presence enhances us With a warmth felt in the heart. This love becomes a passageway, When even the miles disappear. And so, these friends, God sends our way, Remain forever near.

To the Araujo Family, our heartfelt sorrow is extended to you and yours. We never met Andre, he graduated with our daughter from Assabet Valley. Your family has made the ultimate sacrafice. We did not get a chance to thank Andre for his bravery and his unselfishness. For his courage and honor. To serve and protect our family. We are the land of the free because of the brave like Andre. America has lost one of its finest young sons, and the entire nation mourns his loss. The entire nation feels your pain. Thank you for your son, he truely is one of the Brave, and he will be sorely missed. God Bless You and you will forever be in our prayers. The Chapman Family

Our Silent Hero As much as I am here to mourn Andre’s death, I am here to celebrate the 26 years he gave us. Didn’t know Andre much as a Sergeant, I knew him simply as Andre, and I called him my cousin, someone who I will always consider family. I met Andre the day he was born, still in the hospital, and not too long after my parents became his godparents. We went on to grow up together since our families were great friends, and still remain so till this day. Growing up with Andre was always a fun experience. Great kid, playful, always smiling, a parent could not ask for more. He had the toys and we played everything from Nintendo, Darts, Basketball, and rode motorcycles. You name it, he had it, and his family worked hard to give their kids what they did not have when they were children. Most would have turned out spoiled, greedy, and not appreciative of the gifts, but that wasn’t Andre. He enjoyed the toys and shared them with no jealousy, we created our own worlds at times with our imagination, and I mean very creative stuff As we grew, we drifted away for some years as I was a little older and ended up at a different high school. Every time we met though it was all laughs, a lot of love for each other and support. I would catch him at his parents store for a couple minutes where he would help out the family, being a team player, and he enjoyed sharing the responsibility at an early age, never complaining about it to me. A few years later on in life I remember talking to him and hearing how excited he was about building robots with a team and competing. Judging from what I had heard, I actually thought he would go on to college and become some type of engineer, but he didn’t. He chose to join the Marines and achieved far greater in life. Unfortunately we drifted even further apart as he went to boot camp, trained outside of the state, became a Sergeant, served 2 tours and so on… all with great success. We managed though to find time to grab a drink every so often to discuss life. Again, we had our laughs, and he talked about his journeys across seas as if they were normal everyday events. I was so proud of him, and all I could think about was how he was serving our country and protecting our rights. He wasn’t the type of person to talk about all of his great achievements though, that wasn’t him. Since that day I considered him to be a silent hero, someone who achieved, but didn’t need the recognition, applause, awards. He became satisfied by just simply doing it. Even though I did not get to know many of Sergeant Andre’s comrades, soldiers, etc., I know we would all agree that he was caring, a team player, a hard worker, a friend you can count on, a leader, an inspiration. As we together continue to live on, let’s celebrate Andre by learning from what he has given us for the past 26 years. Lessons he taught us silently: Let us… Share and be unselfish Be proud of who we are Be loyal to others Love Honor our word Be courageous Fight for what we believe in Support our troops no matter our Government’s decisions Influence society for the better good, not through words, but with actions Seems unrealistic to some doesn’t it? Then here are some words of encouragement: We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. Andre managed to do it effortlessly. Andre, if you can hear us: We are still in disbelief, it just doesn’t seem real that you are gone but we believe you still remain here with us in spirit We will celebrate your life and continue to pass along your positive message No words can express how proud you make us We will love you always with all of our hearts Thank you for the inspiration Thank you for simply being you We miss you so much and will never forget you You are our HERO God if you can hear us: Please take care of Andre It is very difficult, but we know you have bigger plans for him May he rest in peace… And lastly, to Tia Lelia and Tio Jachson: Thank you for giving us Andre. We know you are very proud of him, and so are we. You should also be very proud of yourselves for raising such a great person. Know that you are not alone and have all of us here to give you support through this hard time. Words cannot express how sorry I am. I love you both very much. Marcello Campos Santana

Andre, We shall all value the freedom you have fought to defend. Thank you for all you have done not only for this country, but for the Brazilian community you leave behind. As we go through life, we will always remember men like yourself who has made it possible for all in this country, independent of their background, to live free. As you look down upon us, remember that we are all proud of your accomplishments. It is personally frustrating to have you passed at such an early age where we could have learned more from your actions as we all have known you to be a man of few words. Watch over us Soldiers, Citizens, friends and family as we go on with life without you here. God bless your family, your wife and your children. Your friend and brother in arms, SSG Alex Santana

I love you and miss you so much. Not a day goes by where my heart is not torn to pieces and that I don't stare at your pictures and wish you were here to see your baby girl.

I need you so much Andre, you have no idea. This really isn't fair. I needed you more than you'll ever know. It's so hard not to be able to know the ONE guy in my life that I knew would never hurt me, had to leave. I just miss you so so so so much. Really I can't say it enough because their is such an emptiness knowing I can't ever talk to you again, see you, make you laugh, make you mad at me, make you wanna completely rip my head off or vice versa. But I'm not going to lie, being down here in texas has made me realize who you really were as a person. An amazing person. And from what Noelle tells me, we were so much alike, from the food we'd order at burger king or wendy's, even down to what we didn't want on it. Just the way we act some times. I just wish I was able to notice that when you were alive, I just wish we had the chance to share so much with eachother. I'm so hurt, I just don't understand things. I love you so much Andre. I'll say it over and over again, you are my brother, my hero.

I LOVE YOU!

-Lil sis
