MARLBOROUGH - Mathew M. Merrill, 22, of Marlborough died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at UMass Medical Center, Worcester after a long illness. He was born in Natick, the son of Sheila L. (Wesinger) Mottla of Marlborough and Herbert Merrill of Shrewsbury. Matt was a graduate of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, Class of 2009. Matt enjoyed working on cars, music and basketball, as well as drawing and painting. Besides his parents, he leaves several uncles and aunts, including Stephen P. Wesinger of Marlborough, John R. Wesinger of Hudson, Albert J. Wesinger, Jr. of Boylston, and Donna M. Schavone of Boylston; and many cousins.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Matt, where to start? its been a long time since we hung out but a short time since i saw you last...ur going to be sorely missed bro..we defiantly had some great times growing up... you lived a great but rough life you were always a fighter..when you were sick you still had the ambition to get up and go do something whether it be shooting hoops or just wanting to be around friends you still found the strength to do it..gunna miss you man...see you on the other side bro..rest easy.

Mathew was a wonderful student in auto collision at Assabet, I was fortunate to have him in my class. I was so happy that he came by to see me in June. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
