South Attleboro - Edmund L.  “Butch” Beland, Jr., 59, of South Attleboro died unexpectedly in his sleep Saturday August 17, 2013.  He was the husband of Randy S. (Holden) Beland, recently celebrating their 35th anniversary.  Born in Central Falls, RI, he was the son of the late Edmund L. and Irene (LeBeau) Beland. A graduate of Attleboro High School, class of 1971, he later went on to receive his Associate Degree in Business Administration from the Community College of Rhode Island.  Ed was a Dock Supervisor for JSA Shipping in Cranston, RI, for his entire career of 40 years. He dedicated his life to helping young athletes, coaching youth football, basketball and baseball. He spent 23 years coaching at Bellingham High School. He was a past president of the White Hawks Little League in South Attleboro, an avid golfer and sports fan. He especially loved attending the games of his three daughters who were very active in sports throughout his life. He also enjoyed vacationing at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, spending time with family, and friends. 

Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters Jackie M. , Lauren M. Kerri L. Beland all of South Attleboro; two brothers, David Beland and his wife Cindy of South Attleboro and Mark Beland of Attleboro; a sister Deborah A. Ryan and her husband Jim of East Greenwich, RI; a grandson, Jaedyn Beland of South Attleboro; his mother-in-law Doris M. Holden of Chandler, Az; three brothers-in-law, Glenn Holden and his wife Bernadette of Gilbert, AZ, Bob Holden and his wife DaLynn of Scottsdale, AZ and Ken Holden of Chandler, AZ; a sister-in-law Vicki Gosselin and her husband Jay of Seekonk. He also leaves behind many close relatives, lifelong friends, and neighbors. He was pre-deceased by his brother Timothy Beland.

A Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday August 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.  Calling hours will be held Friday August 23 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.  All are invited to sign Ed’s online guestbook at www.CollinsFuneral.com.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ed’s memory to the Bellingham Booster Club.
